Piano Mentor

Layla has a broad understanding of musical styles and approaches to learning and teaching. She

studied classical violin, various fiddle styles, piano, and composition. Layla holds a degree in

music with an emphasis in composition from Naropa University. Her teaching style inspires

curiosity, and is based on respect for each individual’s need to develop their own relationship to

music in meaningful ways. Layla incorporates the philosophies of contemplative education into

her pedagogical approach, and fosters creative exploration by encouraging somatic awareness

and joy in playing. She cultivates a positive teacher-student relationship and learning

environment, and aims to foster a foundation for a long-lasting love of making music.
