    At madelife, we believe that individualized creative education is the future of the creative industry. Our program is designed to nurture your unique talents, passions, and aspirations. Through personalized mentorship, workshops, and hands-on projects, we provide the guidance and resources you need to explore your creative potential fully. Whether your interests lie in visual arts, music, design, or technology, our experienced mentors will support you in developing the skills and mindset required for success in the ever-evolving creative landscape.

    As part of our comprehensive programming, we organize engaging weekly community events that bring together participants, mentors, and industry professionals. These events provide invaluable networking opportunities, artistic collaborations, and exposure to diverse perspectives. From open mics and painting nights to guest lectures and interactive workshops, our community events foster connections and inspire creative exploration.

  • Start Dates For Cohorts

    We have available spots and flexible move in dates in September and again in January. After arrival, the cohort of Gap Year Participants will embark on an immersive orientation to the program and the vibrant city of Boulder. The initial activities include 30-minute meet and greets with mentors, engaging Boulder experiences with fellow participants, informative meetings with the Madelife crew, and exclusive tours of Madelife's creative spaces.

    INCLUDES:

    • Highly flexible team of 3+ mentors who are active professionals or creative business entrepreneurs in your field.

    • 8 hrs per week of intensive 1-on-1 mentorship.

    • Creative coordinator support, including project management, resource access, and community development.

    • Weekly project and program review sessions.

    • Cohort Share and Tell sessions with fellow participants.

    • Free enrollment for all Madelife workshops and events.

    • Open access to Madelife music studio, podcast studio, art supplies, computers, and co-working workspace.

    • Skillshare and Masterclass online learning for extended technical skill development.

  • Ideal for those who want to learn how to turn their creative pursuit into a career.

    INCLUDES:

    • Highly flexible team of 3+ mentors who are active professionals or creative business entrepreneurs in your field.

    • 12 hrs per week of intensive 1-on-1 mentorship.

    • Weekly project and program review sessions.

    • Cohort class with rotating creative professionals in the field.

    • Share and Tell sessions with fellow Gap Year participants.

    • Free enrollment for all Madelife workshops and events.

    • Open access to Madelife music studio, podcast studio, art supplies, computers, and co-working workspace.

    • Skillshare and Masterclass online learning for extended technical skill development.

    • The Art of Money class— How to financially succeed as an artist and use your creative brain to your advantage in the world of business.

  • Housing is provided for Gap Year participants in furnished apartments on Maxwell Ave, a short walk away from the heart of Downtown Boulder. Enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and easy access to hiking trails, vibrant local cafes, art galleries, and music venues. Boulder's unique blend of natural wonders and a thriving creative scene creates an optimal environment for self-discovery and personal growth.

  • Gap Year participants will have access to a fully equipped kitchen where they can prepare their own meals. Our Maxwell apartments are 0.5 miles from a Whole Foods grocery store. We also foster a culture of sharing between Gap Year participants whenever possible, and encourage participants to collaborate and create nourishing meals together. For those who do not wish to cook their own meals, meal plans are available. Ask Program Director for details.

    • Community is essential to the Gap Year experience at Madelife. We create opportunities for participants to share and interact with each other and expect all to take part and contribute.

    • Weekly cohort classes and Share and Tell sessions are required.

    • Life Lab (executive functioning and co-working support in the afternoons) and attendance at evening community events is required.

    • Student Guidelines are expected to be followed as outlined in the participant contract upon admission.

Madelife is a recognized member of the Gap Year Association

The Gap Year Association (GYA) is a nonprofit membership community for educators, students, gap year programs, consultants, counselors, and post-secondary institutions with a shared VISION of making at least a semester of quality gap year time accessible to every high school graduate.

Recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission as the Standards Development Organization for gap year education in the U.S., GYA oversees a robust accreditation process for gap year providers and consultants.

Their MISSION is to maximize the potential of young adults through accessible and meaningful gap year opportunities.
