The madelife 2019 Community Hang(out) was a success! Artists showed up and showcased their work, music played all night, people danced, and the local community came together to see what the boulder art scene is all about.
Madelife was blown away by all the submissions. One of the most exciting parts of this show is seeing all the art as it starts to flow through our doors. As the artists started to arrive, we immediately realized the quality of this year’s roster. From ceramic sculptures to three-dimensional canvases and large-scale paintings, this year’s show featured a diverse collection of work spanning across various mediums and styles.
Watching the show come to life was exciting and reminded us of who we are. The Madelife team greeted and assisted each participant, artists joined forces to curate our space and hang their work, and our dj set up his gear. Each person who took part in the event influenced the show in some way, ultimately creating an exhibition that truly reflects the local art community.
Once the hanging up was complete, it was time to open our doors for the hanging out. As people started to file in, the judges started their work. Judges Jessica Parker, Lauren Click, Kelly Duffield, and Mary Wohl Hann, spent time looking over each and every piece and deliberating before selecting four winners, who receive a group show at madelife later this year. The InstaArt booth was back again this year featuring live poetry by Charlie Epstein and illustrations by Jake fairly. The duo created personalized art on demand throughout the night.
