The Universe Conspires will host a pop-up shop at our Holiday Bazaar on December 12th, along with other local Colorado brands. At the bazaar you will be able to purchase goods and meet the artists, themselves. More holiday bazaar pop-up features and event details to come.

In anticipation of our Holiday Bazaar, The Universe Conspires artist, Brianna Michael McGrew, discussed her creative process with us…

Describe your goods, your art, your brand:

The Universe Conspires is a line one-of-a-kind and limited-edition jewelry pieces. Informed by my background in fine art and sculpture, my work is often minimalist and three-dimensional. My process is often informed by the gems and minerals that I source in small batches, from independent lapidary artists.

My art-making practice led e back to jewelry time and again. I aspire to create wearable art objects, keepsakes. Madelife was the first stockist of The Universe Conspires. Mae spotted me wearing one of my pieces whilst working as a barista in Boulder.

What have you learned through making that has surprised you?

I’m often surprised by the work I make. I love being in the moment as a new thing comes into form. I feel like I’m collaborating with the Universe in some small way, riding the waves of pure energetic potential. It feels like the objects want to exist, and I must make them. That may sound crazy

Who or what inspires you most right now?Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Paired down style. Minimalism with attention to interesting details.

Why do you believe art has value?

To express oneself through creative practice seems to be an inherent human desire. It’s an opportunity to express what words fail to. Art is capable of speaking to the deepest parts of us.

I also love what buying art and handmade goods can do to counter the disposable mindset of mass consumerism!

What will you bring to the bazaar?

A selection of small-batch, mixed-metal and stone jewelry.
