Madelife and Eco-Cycle have joined forces to present a workshop on the sustainable creative practice of paper-making!
This workshop will introduce you to eco-art principles through hands-on processes. Learn how to make beautiful and interesting paper from scraps found in your recycling and compost bins. Sustainable plant pressing, eco-printmaking, and eco-collaging will also be explored, with access to materials and pre-pressed plants so you can make your own artwork or greeting cards – just in time for Mother’s Day. Honor your mama and Mother Earth at the same time!
This workshop will be taught by Jesse Lotus Huang and Mario Jose Olvera.
Jesse Lotus holds a Bachelor’s in Studio and Performing Arts from Beloit College and a Master’s in Divinity from the University of Metaphysical Sciences. She is an ordained Wisdom of the Heart Minister and a certified: Montessori Early Childhood Educator, Yoga Teacher, and Vibrational Essence Practitioner. Jesse is also a mama and loves exploring eco-art with her children, friends, and students. She finds that engaging in art that honors the Earth in methodology and intent generates a sense of gratitude for how we are all connected. Mario Jose Olvera’s love and appreciation of art began at the age of 13 when he discovered the craft of lettering. His skill and admiration continued to grow through his involvement with an art warehouse cooperative, experimenting with a plethora of art forms such as painting, music and dance, while exploring the pen, brush, clay and spray painting. Mario’s artistic lens has become an inseparable part of both his professional and personal life, beautifully woven into his endeavors as an educator, youth mentor, Aztec dancer, and father. Using art as a vessel to foster self acceptance and respect among marginalized populations, Mario has become an influential teacher in the Longmont and Boulder community. He is currently working on the greatest creation of his life, his kids. For more on Mario’s work visit: firstname.lastname@example.org
