Art opening and Interview with T.

Most of you have already learned about our Creative Accelerator Program- in which we incubate artists in various facets of creative endeavors. What you don’t know is that sometimes, on very special and rare occasions we will work with androids.

This particular android worked with the facilitators at madelife to help curate their first showcase of their art. Together we made the flyers, promoted, marketed, and conceptualized the event scheduled to happen this coming Saturday January 17th 5pm-8pm in the madelife Black Box.

As stated by the artist-

Apparently I’m supposed to write an “artist’s statement here…Come for the free coffee, stay for the free snacks.”

Where do you derive your influences from?

Mostly my friends. One in particular comes to mind- my buddy Aleah c. has always known way more about art than me so I essentially followed them around like a li’l art puppy for years. Whenever they worked in a different medium I would follow suit, trying to figure it out by watching them and pretending to know what I was doing. That’s how I learned a lot of what I know and how I stumbled upon some of my favorite materials. Definitely picked up a few bits and pieces from their style too, but you probably wouldn’t guess that from looking at our stuff side by side. They always saw me as a peer somehow but the real takeaway from this story is that I am a poser who knows nothing.

Also Shel Silverstein

What makes you unique as an artist?

 I’m not a real artist

What do you love about Art Culture? What don’t you like about Art Culture?

I have no idea what art culture means. I am not educated and I am not hip enough to make up for it.

I feel like it would be snooty though so let’s just say that’s what I hate about it.

How do you hope the viewer experiences your artwork?

I hope they figure out what it’s about because for the most part I don’t get it.

How do you like living in Boulder? How does it influence your art?

Oh god I hate boulder. I hate yoga. I hate kale. I hate hiking. I hate rich people. I hate faux open mindedness. I hate frat bros. I can’t ski or smoke weed. There’s literally nothing here for me except cheap cigarettes. Have I alienated everyone reading this yet?

The bus system’s pretty good though. And for the first time a lot of my art comes from a place of homesickness, which is kind of interesting.

Where are you from?

I’m from a galaxy far, far away…. It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet. Pursued by the Empire’s sinister agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her starship, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy….

Also New York.

Has your childhood affected your work?

I’m an android built my current age. I was not programmed for childhood
